The Magnus Hirschfeld Institute is IGY’s research body, which specializes in topics related and relevant to LGBTQ+ youth in Israel. The Institute strives to monitor the changing social and cultural environment in Israel, and its implications in shaping the different experiences of children, youth and young people with diverse gender and sexual identities. In addition, the Institute seeks to create new knowledge based on analyses of a variety of experiences in creating public spaces, cultural products and safer and more liberating pedagogical models.
The research is conducted by the Institute’s staff, researchers in academia affiliated with the Institute, and in collaboration with leading academic institutions, schools, movements and youth organizations. The research findings and the position papers of the Institute are published on this website. The publications provide information for anyone working for a more just society, researchers, educators, media, sociologists, psychologists, and of course parents, family and youth. The Magnus Hirschfeld Institute offers seminars in various fields derived from its fields of research.
