Iggy – The proud youth organization has been operating since 2002. Iggy is a social-educational organization working for youth and young people (12-23) LGBT in the formulation of sexual and / or gender identity. From its inception to date, Iggy is the only organization operating for LGBT youth In Israel and in recent years has grown to be the largest in the proud community organizations in Israel. The organization has about 320 volunteers and volunteers and over 4,000 trainees and trainees taking part in ongoing activities throughout the year. The reality of the lives of LGBT youth and young people in the periphery is at increased risk. Many times this violence does not receive any systemic or institutional response, as they refrain from contacting the authorities because of fear of revealing their sexual orientation or gender identity. Being in a state of social isolation, the sense of fear and being under constant threat can lead many youth and young people to risk behaviors such as: self-harm, increased drug and alcohol abuse, risky sexual behavior and more. Also, according to the Knesset Research and Information Center, the rate of suicide among homosexual adolescents is two to three times higher than the overall suicide rate. This project is designed and tailored to the unique needs of youth and young people coming from the Ethiopian and USSR peripheries.
